There are many misconceptions about grant writing, even among grant writing professionals. In this presentation you'll hear the Dos and Don'ts of Grant Writing, Myths About Grant Writing, and Words of Wisdom. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned professional, you'll learn something new.
Murray Covens is the founder and principal of North Texas Nonprofit Resources, a professional grant writing firm for 501c3 organizations. Murray started the company 10 years ago, and he and his associates have had thousands of grants funded for over 125 client organizations - - more than $27,000,000 in total.
Murray has been a frequent speaker and teacher about grant writing. He is a partner and board member with Social Venture Partners Dallas, and serves on the board of directors of Recovery Inn. He has previously served on the board or advisory board of several other nonprofit organizations, including Bea's Kids, Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas, Family Compass, Brighter Tomorrows, and Turtle Creek Manor.
Prior to starting North Texas Nonprofit Resources, Murray had a long career in corporate accounting, and was a financial consultant to several nonprofit organizations. He was formerly a CPA, and holds both a Master and Bachelor in Business Administration.
Jaymie Pedigo, Corporate Sponsorship Tips
Jaymie Pedigo has 20 years of nonprofit experience, including marketing, community relations, communications, volunteer and resource development. Her fundraising expertise has supported budgets from $25,000 - $500,000+, and ranges from events and "Friend-raisers" to donor acquisition, corporate partnerships to foundation relationships. She's produced everything from casino nights and golf tournaments to $500 per plate luncheons, procured grants from $2,500 to $250,000 and secured multi-year corporate gift commitments.
Her organizational experience with nonprofits includes a humane society, a school-business partnership program, an emergency assistance agency, and the long-term strategic planning division of the Greater Houston Partnership (Houston Chamber of Commerce.)
While working full time and raising two children, Jaymie earned a bachelor's degree in Communications. She's a graduate of two civic leadership programs as well as the Dale Carnegie Institute, and a former AFP member. She has served on numerous boards and held multiple leadership positions, including two-term president of a major civic organization.
Since 2010, Jaymie has provided contract communications, marketing and development support through her firm, Integrity Marketing and Development.
